Have all of you been to Trader Joes?  I asked the clerk if these were sale prices and she said they don't have sales.  Soooo, WOW!  They have gluten free mini cupcakes, a dozen for $3.99.  That is so cheap and they were delicious!  Of course, you know, I bought them for the grandchildren so how would I know they were delicious????

They also had frozen chicken patties with cilantro and lime and no bad additives.  They were a delicious fast lunch with some added fruit.

They had their brand of several kinds of gluten free breads/buns.

Thanks to Gary for sending new information using nanoparticles to treat and possibly cure Celiac Disease!  https://apple.news/Aqj0lkyyoRJqlHwFgVbKfEQ.

We just went to Silver Dollar City.  Either the restaurants have gotten really good about not giving me gluten or my microbiome has healed due to  altering my diet for 19 yrs.  Either way I am so thankful!
A big part  of my recovery has been to try to prevent using antibiotics!  A new study this year claims that if you take antibiotics your first year of life and have the celiac gene you will probably develop it.  I had pneumonia at age 3 mos., Mom said.  It was very traumatic for her so she really remembered it.

I have actually gotten Strep Throat in August in the past due to ragweed allergies.  This year, I started  the silver spray at the first sign of sore throat and I take Olive Leaf Extract capsules if I start to get respiratory symptoms.

The Celiac Scene News- Oct. 2019 has a current article about a bill being introduced to make pharmaceutical companies tell us if their products have gluten.  A few years ago I had a tooth pulled.  We arrived at a pharmacy to get the pain pills filled and the pharm. company was closed.  So, I had to take a pain pill that I didn't know if it had gluten in it.  It must have been all right.  But, I had to take a chance.  Please sign up on this site to deliver our wish for this bill to pass.

After having severe dry eyes for years, I finally have my answer!  I saw several doctors but none of them mentioned Vit. A.  They all wanted me to take expensive prescription drops that made my eyes burn like fire!  Vitamin A is fat soluble which is only one of the vitamins celiacs have trouble absorbing.  I  was desperate and had 24,000 Beta Carotene that we take if we are around a sick person.  My eyes felt so much better!  I took 3 days and then thought I should have the blood level checked.  It was a great number: 77.  Normal is 40-100.  So, the level is good and I felt at least 90% better!  I read that a lot of celiacs need 10,000 per day so I am taking that nearly every day.  I will get retested later in the fall when I recheck Vit.D.  The doctors that know about nutrition are saying low Vit. D can lead to dementia as well as many other problems.  It is good to test it in the fall before all the dangerous germs hit people.

I haven't made any new posts for quite awhile due to my brothers' sudden death.  I thought he would outlive  us siblings.  He became suddenly sick, was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and died about 6wks. later!  A lot of the gastrointestinal cancers are related to celiac disease.  I wonder how many blood-related  families get tested after the first person gets diagnosed with celiac.

Someone tried a new Wichita doctor and related a family history of celiac.  This young doctor said we don't  test for celiac unless the patient has stomach pain!  I guess that leaves out all of you with:  migraines, joint pain,  skin problems, liver problems, learning problems,  in fertility etc.  There are 300 symptoms now associated with celiac.  As patients that have to live in our bodies, we need to be educated in spite of our doctors not knowing the symptoms.  I guess I was lucky that I had the classic belly problems.  I am sure if I was still eating gluten these last 19 years I would have been disabled or not even alive!

This is an amazing time to be living with gluten free food!  Carriage Crossing has a long listing of gluten free dinners!  This is wayyyy beyond eating basically a baked potato of years ago!  They list turkey and turkey gravy, french fries.  Of course, I will find out:  what is the gravy thickened with, are the french fries fried separately.  Remember, you are not gluten free if you eat "iffy" foods even once a week.  We want to prevent those health issues possible to celiacs like:  lymphoma, bone problems like osteoporosis, brain problems, joint problems.

A child recently diagnosed had uncommonly known symptoms.  Extremely tangly hair due to zinc deficiency, unclear speech.  She did not have diarrhea, but some constipation.  I wish we could bring a conference here to educate our medical doctors.

I know someone recently diagnosed with celiac.  We really don't eat fast food because I don't want to trust my immune system to a 17 yr. old!  Soooo, I am asking for referrals from you of fast food restaurants that do not give you hidden gluten.  Thanks!

I read quite a bit about health and new functional medicine treatments.  I am not a person that wants to take prescriptions.  Sadly, I do know people that want to take a pill rather than change their diet or take vitamins and minerals.  There is a new docuseries coming that will discuss that most of our health problems come from the gut.  Too many vaccinations, antibiotics, sugar, toxins can damage our gut and cause even mental problems!  I know 4 young women, not related, that have bipolar and it is harming their life.  Diet, diet, Diet.  To sign up for this docuseries  go to:  pedram@interconnectedseries.com.  This is Dr. Pedram from India.  I have watched many series from this group, but the first from this doctor.  I hope this changes someones life.

Thanks to Gary for informing us of the new products coming to Aldis May 8.  Some of these are:  empanadas, raisin bread,  larger pizzas, ravioli.  More choices are always a helpful situation for us!

I once had a very difficult tooth pulling.  It was after business hours when I finally left to go get pain medicine.  No one knew if the pain pill had gluten in it but, I bought it anyway due to the difficult process trying to get it out.  There is a new bill introduced April 3, 2019 HR2074 that would protect us from this problem.  It would require the pharmaceutical companies to declare any gluten in their medicine used by humans.   I am sure they will fight this and maybe pay off our government leaders.  Please call, send and email, etc. to Ron Estes, Representative, Jerry Moran, Pat Roberts, Senators to respectfully request they help this pass.  This is a (rare) bipartisan effort!!  https://www.roberts.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/emailpat#form_56E0E9D8-904D-  I do not know why the other two men's emails did not copy.  It is not hard to get.  Look up Kansas Representative Ron Estes, and Jerry Moran, Kansas Senator.  Thank you for helping!  Ask friends and family to help us to pass this!

glutenfreesociety.org is the link Dr. Osborne used for the oats story.
I just read an interesting article about oats being highly inflammatory for celiacs and everyone!  I know that I cannot eat Cheerios.  I always thought it was the cross contamination but maybe there's more to it. I can't get the link to copy but it's Dr. Osborne. He is a doctor out of Texas that has amazing information and treats a lot of celiacs.  I have learned a lot from him.

April 11 is coming and so is our CEO:  Celiacs Eating Out at Perfect Plate, 5255 N. Maize Suite 104.  They are going to stay open 30 minutes longer to accomodate us!  So, it will be 6-7:30pm that Thursday night.  They can seat about 22 people.  They keep 11 different entrees on hand and reheat them.  They are made from scratch in a totally dedicated gluten free restaurant.  I am going to get their famous turkey meatloaf!  Yum!  Remember, I will call them with our number of attenders the day before so you MUST call, text, or email me.  316-788-2531  leave message of your name and how many coming, 316-650-4026 to text, takncare4@yahoo.com to leave email.  Hope to see you soon!

I like to read theceliacscene.com newsletter even though it comes from Canada.  Every year they show United States restaurants also and this year it is over 200!  They make it easy:  you can click on your restaurant choice and go right to the web site!  We don't eat out a lot but this information will be great on trips!

We get some requests for the names of knowledgible doctors.  I was just referred to a KU site on 32nd north, east of Rock Road  I didn't get to see Dr. Saylor because he's booked up for 3 mos.  So, I saw his PA Andrew.  I really liked him.  He is knowledgible and not only answered my questions but gave me more information.  At the end, he asked what he could do to improve things for me.  I have never been asked that!  He got right to the point!

Thanks to Gary for sending the link to:  http://celiac.com/ for information about the safest gluten free fast food.  It also contains information about the law concerning gluten free food and restaurants.  There is also updates about Subway, Panera Bread, Burger King, etc.

Susan let us know of her good experience at Dennys.  She ordered  a club sandwich on an english muffin, gluten free, of course. It was great!  She also reports some new Walmart items!  Great Value has"Helper" mixes for cheeseburger, stroganoff, and chicken ranch.  Krusteache brand  has blueberry muffin and coffee cake mixes.  Just be careful about eating too many foods with rice in them.  Our government is supposed to be making the rice companies take out or grow rice with lower arsenic in it.

One good thing came out of the "spying" being done on us!  I am talking about what we look at online, every time we shop and use a credit or debit card, etc. the stores are recording what we look at or buy.  So, Walmart wants us to buy and they will bag it up now.  They sent me a huge gluten free list and I was amazed at what they now carry.  Such as:  larger sized breads, frozen larger sized pastas, etc.  I haven't seen these larger items in our stores here.  Let us know if you have found some.
